Hey Dream Chaser and Dusty Lawdog!
Who's the Match Director in Auguse?
How many stages?
How much ammo should we bring?
Any suprises?
I know we'll start shooting at 9:00 in August.
I'm looking for cooler temps.

I'm glad to see we are going to start the match at 9:00 AM. Several have complained about the heat of summer and it was hot for the July match. I think we all know to expect hot weather in South Texas, in the summer! It seemed that the 9:00 AM start time was okay with everyone that was at the July Shooter's Meeting. I hope it will meet with most of our shooter's approval. That being said, in order to benefit from the new start time, we need to start on time! It doesn't do us any good to say we are going to start at nine and then mess around until 9:30 or later. I understand that things happen from time-to-time that push the start time back a little, but we really ought to make a determined effort to start on time. I have cut and pasted the shoot schedule for the Tejas Caballeros. I'm not suggesting we ought to have breakfast...I'm just including the message as it goes out to their members: ...........................................................................................................
Saturday Schedule: 7:30 - 8:30 Free Breakfast 8:00 - 8:30 Sign in time!*** 8:30 - New Shooters Checked Out 8:45 - Safety meeting and posse assignments 9:00 - Hammer down, shooting begins! *** Shooters will please arrive for sign in before 8:30 as a courtesy to everyone so that we can start on time. Thank you kindly. ............................................................................................................
If we would all adhere to a schedule similar to the one above, we could start on time and get the full benefit from the earlier start time. I think it would also make life easier for our Treasurer, who takes care of registration.

Yes, that would make it a lot easier on me. It would be great to be able to check everyone in and put my things away before it is time to shoot.

I think it is something that we should consistently encourage. I don't want everything we do to get so regimented that it is no longer fun, but I believe conducting the match promptly and with a certain amount of efficiency, would make the overall experience more pleasant for everyone. I really like the way Judge Menday concluded his schedule:
*** Shooters will please arrive for sign in before 8:30 as a courtesy to everyone so that we can start on time. Thank you kindly.

Yea for the 8:45 safety briefing. I went on the trpistoleros forum and saw SB has posted it for the August match. Good deal!

Wahoo, I think I can make the August match. I have a proposition for Dusty Law Dog, the match director: What do you think about a long distance buffalo rifle/Winchester side match? It would be good practice for the upcoming Fort Parker LD competition as well as great fun.

Mainspring, does this mean you are going to Fort Parker? That would be great. As far as a long distance rifle side match that would be great as long as we still shoot six stages. If you have not been to Ft. Parker the stages use the biggest targets you have ever seen and the closest targets with many pistol targets at perhaps five yards.

By the way, I am not suggesting we put our targets as close as 5 yards but it would sure be nice if the September match director would use the biggest possible targets as prep for those of us going to Fort Parker. It's a long way to the DOFP but I went last year and loved the match and want to encourage all to go to it. Which reminds me, I need to send my entry fee in. I already have my room reserved but failed to send my entry.

We had a great time out in the Heat of Gamble Gulch! The early start was a blessing. We were all wrapped up with six stages under our belts before Lunch. 14 brave souls challenged the heat and mastered Match Director Dusty Lawdog's challenging scenarios. I heard a rumor that someone thought Badger season had started. But no Badger's were found on the deceased list. -Wandering Man

I thought it was a great match! Dusty Lawdawg, once again, did a great job setting up the match. I liked the shooting sequences and of course I particularly enjoyed the scenarios! I'm glad we are starting at 9:00 AM. When we got in my truck to head home, the thermometer read 113 degrees! That is the highest temperature I've ever seen register in my truck.
Janet and Brushy, outdid themselves on the meal. The food was excellent!
